FCT Project POCTI/FIL/44903/2002

Having as its main motive the second centenary of the death of Immanuel Kant, in the year of 2004, this project proposes to develop a research on the presence of the Kantian thought in the present philosophical movements and specially of Kant in the Portuguese thought during the second half of the 20th century. The project has its ground in a consistent tradition of the Department of Philosophy of the University of Lisbon and of the Center of Philosophy of the same University that develops the research in the area of the Philosophy of the German Idealism in general and of the Kantian Philosophy in particular. The different conferences and congresses that occurred since 1981 and the publication of their proceedings as well as the various PhD and MA in the area are evidence of this activity. The project has four main parts:

1. Translation and publication of the main works on Kant not yet translated into Portuguese: - Erste Einleitung in die Kritik der Urteilskraft - Allgemeine Naturgeschichte und Theorie des Himmels - Opus postumum - Metaphysik der Sitten: Rechstlehre / Tugendlehre - Anthropologie in pragmatischer Hinsicht.

2. Publication of monographic works and collective works about Kant and the Kantian Philosophy: - Reception of Kant in Portugal (Anthology of Papers by Portuguese researchers about Kant during the last 30 years). Edition in Portuguese and English. - Special number of the journal Philosophica about Kant (November 2004) - Other essays and monographies about Kant by researchers of the Center of Philosophy of the University of Lisbon.

3. Seminars about the Kantian philosophy and its reception, included in the MA and PhD programs in Philosophy of the University of Lisbon.

4. International Kant Congress in Portugal, taking place in November 2004.
