Ricardo Mendoza-Canales
Research Group: Praxis
I am FCT Junior Researcher and Coordinator of Praxis – Practical Philosophy Research Group. I received my PhD in Philosophy (Doctor Europaeus) from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) (2015, Special Prize Award/Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado). Previously I studied Hispanic Linguistics and Literature at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) (B.A., 2006), and Comparative Literature (M.A., 2009) and Contemporary Philosophy (M.A., 2012) at UAB. I have held positions as research fellow and teaching assistant at the Department of Humanities of the PUCP (Peru) and at the Department of Philosophy of the UAB (Spain), doctoral and postdoctoral visiting researcher at the Husserl-Archives at the University of Cologne (Germany) and visiting researcher and FCT postdoctoral fellow at the Centre of Philosophy of the University of Lisbon (Portugal). My primary research area orients to the study of imagination and the imaginary as constitutives of the interplay between subjectivity and the social, so I pay special attention to their intersections with phenomenology, epistemology, cultural studies, ontology of the social, politics and aesthetics.
I welcome MA and PhD students working on these topics within the scope of the continental tradition in both systematic and/or historical approaches, as well as those interested in inter- and transdisciplinary research.
